Federal Minister Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan called on Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Sunday and discussed with him matters regarding trade policy, industrial development and other economic issues. The chief minister told the commerce minister that a comprehensive programme is being implemented to boost investment and accelerate the pace of industrial development as well as trade sector.
He said the role of government institutions had been redefined with a view to strengthening the industrial sector in the province and it was being ensured that all public departments should facilitate the industrialists.
He said the industrial development is playing a vital role in enhancing exports of the country and added that industrialists from various countries have shown interest in strengthening trade relations with Punjab.
The commerce minister apprised the chief minister of the initiatives taken be the federal government to lure investors and said a number of incentives had been offered to entrepreneurs in the trade policy.
Meanwhile the chief minister met ruling PML central leader Sardar Farooq Leghari at his residence on Sunday and discussed with him matters relating to organisational set-up of the party and development projects in the province.
The chief minister informed him that the top priority was being accorded to the organisational matters of the party and the office bearers of the party are endeavouring hard to organise and strengthen it at the grassroots level.
