The Indus River System Authority (Irsa) has expressed its satisfaction on the share of water utilised by the provinces during previous month. The authority in its meeting held, here on Monday to review the water situation for Rabi season, also appreciated efforts by provinces for water conservation through better water management.
Keeping in view river inflows, satisfactory storage component and better water management of provinces, the authority decided that anticipated shortage remained of the order of 44 percent, as assessed earlier in the meeting held on October 12, official sources said.
The meeting also decided that the water position will again be reviewed on December 1, keeping in view rainfalls and actual water utilised by the provinces.
The meeting was chaired by Irsa chairman Aman Gul Khattak and was attended by representatives of all the four provinces.
During the meeting, provinces were apprised about the water availability for Rabi crops. After detailed deliberations some decisions were also made through consensus.
