The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has launched membership drive for the business, councils/economic co-operation committees and bilateral trade and industry committees for 2005-06.
FPCCI President Riaz Ahmed Tata, in a letter to all member bodies, informed them that those councils and committees, established with the approval of the Ministry of Commerce (MoC), were playing vital role in promoting bilateral trade and economic relations with the respective countries.
Those councils and committees facilitated Pakistani entrepreneurs by providing them information on the market access, advisory services for establishing business contacts, assistance in the planning and organisation of business meetings, lobbying support, visit of trade delegations and participation in the trade fairs and exhibitions, he said.
Businessmen, who want to be a member of these councils and committees, have been advised to submit their forms along with all-relevant documents and payments as per the following slab:
-- Business councils for the two years ie 2005-06: Rs 3,000; Economic Co-operation Committees for 2005-06: Rs 3,000; and bilateral trade and industry committees for one year, 2005: Rs 1,000.
The FPCCI will issue notice for elections to the board of directors of these councils and committees as soon as 20 memberships, which is the minimum quorum for holding the elections, are received.
There are 18 business councils, 14 economic co-operation committee, and 112 trade and industry committees.
