Punjab government has fetched an amount of Rs 1.9 million through sale of attractive registration numbers of LZG series in an open auction held here on Monday.
The auction took place at the office of Director Excise and Taxation, Region-C, Lahore. Motor Registering Authority Lahore Mian Ahmad Saeed and Superintendent E&T department supervised the auction proceedings.
According to officials of excise and taxation department, all the 136 registration marks of LZG series were contested in the open auction. The registration number LZG-1 received the highest bid of Rs 255,500. The second highest offer of Rs 68,000 was received for LZG-786 and third of Rs 62,000 for LZG-5. LZG-7 fetched Rs 60,000, LZG-2 Rs 20,000, LZG-3 Rs 35,000, LZG-4 Rs 31,000, LZG-6 Rs 31,000, LZG-8 Rs 27,000, LZG-9 Rs 36,000, LZG-1000 Rs 25,500, LZG-666 Rs 28,000 LZG-999 Rs 17,500, and LZG-555 Rs 18,000.
According to the sources, the provincial government is fetching substantial revenue through open auction of registration numbers. In order to ensure maximum revenue collection, the government has adopted foolproof arrangements. For public attraction, auction of registration numbers is being held prior to start of new series.
