Pakistan Prime Minister, Shaukat Aziz is expected to pay a two-day visit to India from November 22 in his capacity as outgoing chairman of South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (Saarc).
The details of Shaukat Aziz's visit were still being worked out but indications were that he would meet Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh on November 23, sources here said.
Although the visit is primarily in Saarc context, it has acquired significance in view of ongoing composite dialogue between India and Pakistan to resolve all outstanding issues including Kashmir.
Besides the Prime Minister, Shaukat Aziz is expected to meet President Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Congress chief and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition L.K. Advani and External Affairs Minister K.Natwar Singh.
The meeting between Dr Singh and Aziz, both of whom are credited with bringing about a turnaround in economic fortunes of their respective countries, will be keenly observed in major world capitals.
Shaukat Aziz's visit to New Delhi will be followed by a series of meetings between the officials of the two countries between November 29 and December 16 on eight issues, including Srinagar- Muzaffarabad bus service, Munnabao- Khokhrapar rail link and nuclear confidence building measures (CBMs).
