Pakistani exports to the Russian Federation have increased from 3.4 million dollars in 1999-2000 to 20.49 million dollars in 2003-04, showing an increase of 500 percent. According to Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) here on Wednesday, the exports to Russia were 0.17 percent of the total exports of Pakistan in 2003-04 against 0.04 percent in 1999-2000.
Since 1999-2000, the exports to Russian Federation increased by 17 million dollars. The increase is net of certain product categories having grown and some that have declined.
Those that grew were a total 17.30 million dollars and those that declined total 0.22 million dollars resulting in a net increase of total 17.08 million dollars.
These included cotton fabrics from 0.148 million dollars to 5.676 million dollars (showing a rise of 5.528 million dollars), bedwear from 0.181 million dollars to 3.162 million dollars (up by 2.981 million dollars), sports goods from 0.767 million dollars to 3.732 million dollars (up by 2.965 million dollars), surgical instruments from 0.435 million dollars to 1.879 million dollars (up by 1.444 million dollars) and leather clothing from 0.263 million dollars to 1.664 million dollars (up by 1.401 million dollars).
Increase were also recorded in chemical and its products by 0.666 million dollars, fruit 0.518 million dollars, synthetic textile 0.321 million dollars, hosiery 0.278 million dollars and various other commodities on aggregate of 1.198 million dollars.
