The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has decided to organise a six-day Orientation Course on International Humanitarian Law for faculty members of public sector universities, colleges and degree awarding institutions of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The week-long course commencing from November 22, 2004 would be held under the auspices of the Learning Innovation Division of the HEC in collaboration with the International Committee of Red Cross at the HEC Headquarters, Islamabad.
The HEC has invited nominations from the faculty and research students serving at public sector universities, institutions and degree colleges of Rawalpindi and Islamabad to attend the course.
The major objective of the course is the orientation and introduction of recent trend like information sources, online services and retrieval of information for the use of researchers and scholars with reference to International Humanitarian Law.
Eminent experts of the discipline of the international law have been requested by the HEC to instruct the participants as resource persons.
It is hoped that the course would be capable of equipping the young scholars with latest global trend of International Humanitarian Law.
Meanwhile, the HEC has invited applications for HEC scholarships abroad under the scheme entitled MS/MPhil leading to PhD scholarships in engineering, natural and basic sciences, humanities and social sciences for the teachers of newly-established or less developed public sector universities of Pakistan.
The applications have been invited from full time teachers working on regular basis in the fields of basic/natural/physical and engineering sciences, social sciences, humanities and technology.
