Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has stressed the need of establishing a polytechnic institute in Rawalpindi in order to provide skilled workforce to the industrial sector of this area and a good opportunity to the educated youth of the area to receive a skill-oriented training.
The Chamber has urged all-out efforts to resolve the problems of industrialists of the area. It urged the traders that they should make efforts to provide training to youth to get a skilled workforce.
Najam Rehan, president RCCI, while talking to the representatives of the different traders associations and unions of Rawalpindi region, said, "the business community of the area is facing various difficulties and it is pertinent on the part of the government to help resolve all these issues at the earliest."
"We are playing our due role in this direction to resolve these problems besides promotion of trade and commerce activities in the area at all levels and forums." Chamber, he said has rightly achieved its targets by the strong support and co-operation by the business community.
Talking about the importance of development of SMEs in the country, he observed that the small and medium-scale industries put a positive impact on socio-economic structure of a society besides improving the living standard of the people. Therefore, he said, "it is high time for us to focus and concentrate on the promotion of this sector."
He mentioned that more than 54 percent of the people are attached with this sector whereas only nine percent are attached with large-scale industries.
Expressing his views over technical institutions he said that as a result of lack of such institutions, Rawalpindi region has failed to produce technically trained people and added, "it is the need of the hour to set up a polytechnic institution in the region so that this area could produce technically skilled people.
Rehan urged the businessmen to play their due role and make the RCCI an effective and active organisation for the business community. He assured full support to trade representatives for the solution of their problems.
