A member of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has written a letter to Chief Manager State Bank of Pakistan praying for issuance small coins in the interest of general public at large. M.D. Tahir in his letter contended that small coins of denomination of five, ten, 25 and 50 paisas were not available in the market.
Shopkeepers and other salesmen did not accept small coins on the pretext of ban imposed on them. He said that ordinary items, which could be purchased by small coins, have gradually gone much higher.
He said that in the Sindh province small coins were being used which was discriminatory in nature.
