Here is how major stock markets outside the United States ended on Friday.
EUROPE STOCKS EXCHANGE: European shares scaled fresh 28-month peaks as good news from insurer Allianz and pay-TV firm BSkyB helped investors to put aside concerns about the feisty euro, at least for now.
The FTSEurofirst 300 index closed up 0.3 percent 1,034.45 points, its highest finish since early July 2002.
The benchmark pushed further above the trading range it has been trapped in since the start of the year, with the advance made in strong volume of 3.3 billion euros.
The narrower DJ Euro Stoxx 50 index ended at 2,907.45 points, a 0.12 percent gain. London's FTSE 100 closed up 0.36 percent at 4,793.9, its best close in 29 months.
FRANKFURT STOCKS EXCHANGE: The DAX index ended at 4143.35 points, up 12.54 or 0.03 percent, up 79.77 from last Friday.
PARIS STOCKS EXCHANGE: The CAC-40 index closed at 3835.11 points, up 1.32 or 0.03 percent, a rise of 54.12 over the week.
ZURICH STOCKS EXCHANGE: The Swiss market index closed at 5689.2 points, up 39.5 or 0.70 percent, rising 70.9 from seven days ago.
MILAN STOCKS EXCHANGE: The All Share Mibtel index closed at 22387 points, up 15 or 0.07 percent, rising 245 from last week.
SYDNEY STOCKS EXCHANGE: Stocks finished flat, retreating from a record high touched in early trade and pausing to absorb a week of fresh all-time peaks.
The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 Index closed 0.8 points or 0.02 percent down at 3,862.5, the index gained 19 points from last Friday.
JOHANNESBURG STOCKS EXCHANGE: Hostile bid predator Harmony and its prey Gold Fields Ltd helped drag South African stocks from the previous day's record peak, after Harmony's shareholders backed its take-over move.
The All-share index closed at 12212.87, down 109.27 points or 0.89 percent, a rise of 150.02 from November 5, the Gold index closed at 1923.04, down 59.34 points or 2.99 percent, up 6.22 from seven days ago, while the Industrial index closed at 9009.37, up 6.42 points or 0.07 percent, rising 150.37 from last Friday.
