New York benchmark coffee futures fell 5 percent Tuesday as selling from producers and funds poured cold water on Monday's overheated bull run that pushed prices up to levels not seen since July 2000.
On the New York Board of Trade, most-active March arabica lost 4.85 cents, or about 5 percent, to 89.70 cents a pound, after dealing from 89.25 to 91.90 cents.
Front-month December dropped 5.60 cents or about 6 percent to 86.05 cents and more distant futures declined 4.75 to 4.80 cents.
