Leader of Opposition in AJK Legislative Assembly and former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has urged upon India to ensure ongoing process of composite dialogue with Pakistan fruitful for the early peaceful resolution of all outstanding issues especially the core issue of Kashmir, by brushing aside her traditional stubborn and hostile approach. In an exclusive interview to APP at the PWD Rest House here Sultan reiterated his demand that India should immediately announce the time frame for the settlement of the Kashmir problem through the on going peace talks with Pakistan.
Barrister Sultan observed that India seemed not sincere and serious for the comprehensive dialogue with Pakistan on the Kashmir problem. He continued that despite the long passage of the process of confidence building measures by the two countries, India has not, so far, prepared for the time frame for the settlement of the Kashmir issue." Such Indian attitude of getting escape from the peaceful solution of Kashmir issue reflected India's traditional negative and stubborn behaviour," he observed.
The Kashmiri leader called upon India to ensure the early peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue through the result-oriented tripartite talks among Pakistan, India and the true representatives of the Jammu & Kashmir people. "New Delhi should give positive response to the sincere and serious endeavours and approach of Pakistan for the early peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute through the ongoing composite dialogue paving way for early grant of right of self-determination to Kashmiri people committed by the world community through the UN resolutions on the Kashmir dispute," he urged.
Sultan observed that New Delhi seemed trying to gain time besides planning to gear up a massive crackdown in form of more large scale arrests and reign of state terrorism against the freedom-loving people in occupied Jammu Kashmir in the days coming in," he feared.
To a question about the recent announcement by India about reduction of her occupying military troops in occupied Jammu Kashmir, Sultan said that India should also withdraw her troops particularly from the populous areas of the held state to ensure the reduction of the recently-increased incidents of state terrorism including the killings of Kashmiris in custody and other violent brutalities unleashed by the Indian troops against the innocent Kashmiris. He called upon the world community to perform its due global obligations to get stopped the continued Indian human rights abuses in the held valley.
Sultan continued that Kashmir issue has entered its decisive turn, He termed the ongoing process of peace talks between Pakistan and India followed by the C.B.Ms between the two countries as good omen for the settlement of all outstanding issue including the core issue of Kashmir. He said that the success of the dialogue process primarily depended upon the attitude and response of India.
Criticising the illegal and immoral Indian act of fencing the line of control, he observed that the unlawful Indian act of erecting the fence along the LoC belt is, therefore, particularly aimed at to discourage the suffering people of occupied Jammu Kashmir to cross into the liberated territory of Azad Jammu Kashmir after having been utterly sick and perplexed of the continued Indian unlawful and immoral act. The Kashmiri leader urged upon the world community including the United Nations to take immediate stringent notice of the violation of the line of control through illicit and immoral act of erecting the fence on the LoC belt and keep India desist from this unlawful act, which, he added, was also blatant violation of the United Nations recognised resolutions on the Kashmir dispute, he added.
