While welcoming Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz's affirmation to negotiate and take along the Opposition, Central Leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Mohammad Pervaiz Malik has said that the government has to change its attitude and position vis-à-vis respect and supremacy of parliament, rule of law and sanctity of the constitution. Commenting upon the Prime Minister's speech regarding the Opposition, Malik said that the steps to change the constitution with simple majority, bulldozing of Parliament and opposition's point of view in a crude manner were not conducive to normalisation of relations with the Opposition.
The government, he said has to think above their vested interests and party politics instead of practising the politics of victimisation.
He said the claim by the Prime Minister would be mere an eyewash if the government did not change its stance on various issues. He said the ensuing agitation was the result of disrespect on the part of the government to the agreements and the promises made with a section of the Opposition.
Malik said that time would tell how far the Prime Minister was sincere in its promises to the nation made during the speech.
