Chairman of Pakistan Ready-made Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (Prgmea) Ijaz A Khokhar has urged the government to allocate a permanent seat for Sialkot in "Export Board of Pakistan" for the solution of all the problems being faced by Sialkot's export-oriented cottage industries. Talking to the newsmen here on Sunday, he urged the government to adopt an effective business-friendly diplomacy and discourage the exports of raw materials by focussing on value-addition through motivating the businessmen towards the promotion of value-addition.
Ijaz A Khokhar said that the Prgmea has also urged the government to expand the net of government technical training institutes in the country, as the funds of Rs 12 billion were laying useless in Export Development Fund (EDF) and these funds could be utilised for the establishment of training institutes.
He said that Prgmea has also decided to hire foreign consultants in active collaboration with Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) for the advanced packaging and marketing for the country's export items, which is vital.
He said that Prgmea would soon establish "mini training institutes" in Daska, Sambrial, Pasrur, Chawinda, Zafarwal, Shakargarh and Narowal for producing trained and skilled labour force for Sialkot's value-added garment industry on priority basis.
He said that Prgmea has also focused on the promotion of Sialkot's value-added garments industry through the promotion of value-addition.
He said the country's garments exports could be enhanced to a great extent through the production of skilled and trained labour force, especially, the skilled female force.
