State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anisa Zaib Tahirkheli has asked the opposition to co-operate with government especially with President and not to launch negative campaigns against the government. She stated this while talking to a delegation of journalists headed by the chairman of Attock Press club Akbar Yousaf Zai at her residence Tehsil Ghazi on Sunday.
Delegation was comprised on several journalists including general secretary of Divisional Union of Journalists Rawalpindi Division Nadeem Raza Khan, the President of central Union of Journalists Pakistan Hussain Raza Khan and some other newspersons.
State minister said that it was need of hour that opposition should co-operate with government rather to start negative campaigns against them especially against President's uniform.
She reiterated that present time was not the time to start negative campaigns against the government but it was a time for more unity and hard work.
Answering a question she made it clear that people would not fellow the negative calls of oppositions and not to hold protest demonstration on roads.
She stressed that the issue of President holding two offices has already been settled by the Parliament and called for moving ahead while following the democratic norms.
She emphasised that it was essential that President Musharraf should retain his military uniform because masses of the country really want President Musharraf in military uniform.
It was settled in the 17th constitutional amendments that President could retain his uniform she added. She said that the Article 41 (7-B) the uniform was the discretion of the President.
She said that Article 61-D could not be applied on the president's uniform adding that President Musharraf has not yet decided any decision about his uniform.
She said that political stability is essential for overall economic development of the country and invited the Opposition to show political sense while resolving national issues.
Answering an other question, she alleged that Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) was not a friendly opposition at the same time serving as opposition and in government.
