Suspected freedom fighters shot dead three people and wounded 20 others in two grenade attacks in Indian occupied Kashmir, while Indian occupation troops shot dead three freedom fighters, police said on Wednesday. The attacks came on the final day of a two-day visit by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to New Delhi where he pledged to continue peace talks with India on the disputed Himalayan state.
A police spokesman said suspected freedom fighters killed three people, including a former freedom fighter and his brother-in-law near Kokernag health resort, 70km from occupied Srinagar and shot dead a village head in southern Rajouri district.
Indian occupation troops shot dead three freedom fighters in the southern Doda district during two separate clashes, police said.
Separately, police said 17 civilians were wounded on Wednesday evening in a grenade explosion triggered by suspected freedom fighters in occupied Jammu.
Three civilians were wounded earlier in a failed grenade attack on a bunker of occupation paramilitary forces in northern Sopore town, 50km north of occupied Srinagar, police said.
Suspected freedom fighters also attempted to abduct another former freedom fighter now working for Indian occupation troops after barging into his house in Kunzer village in northern Baramulla district, police said.
