Jan Palmstierna Ambassador of Sweden and leader of the Swedish trade delegation, informed the business community that a Swedish firm has applied for grant of licence and if it is granted, the firm will make huge investment in mobile phones. Speaking at a meeting of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), he said that Swedish companies are ready to invest in Pakistan and added that Swedish firm has already signed an agreement of establishing desalination plant at DHA.
He said beside this Swedish buses are running on Karachi road and added that more are likely to be delivered soon.
He said that Swedish companies are interested to work with Pakistani counterparts in different fields and establish industrial units in joint venture as well as boost two-way trade. He also said that he is aware of visa problem and added that it will be resolved soon. The Swedish ambassador said that the purpose of visit is to promote trade and to explore the possibilities of investment. The present economic scenario in Pakistan is quite business and investment friendly.
Welcoming the guests, Khalid Firoz, President, KCCI, said that the volume of trade between the two countries could be increased through joint ventures also. He said that the government of Pakistan has been following a liberal foreign investment policy, which besides many incentive packages provides a safeguard to foreign investors with facility of repatriation of profits and capital gains etc.
