Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Thursday that relations between India and Pakistan can only improve after resolution of the Kashmir issue. Talking to newsmen here, he said the visit of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to India is a positive development. However, he said without resolution of Kashmir issue, headway cannot be made in bilateral relations of the two countries.
Rashid said the parliament had passed the bill for establishment of a National Security Council (NSC). Referring to the amendments proposed by MMA in the composition of NSC, he said no changes would be made in NSC.
He said the US Congress has appreciated Pakistan's role in nuclear non-proliferation. Pakistan has met the standards set by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), he said, adding if IAEA requires some information, it can contact Pakistan.
Sheikh Rashid said former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto can return to Pakistan if she is ready to face court cases. Asif Ali Zardari was released only after the Supreme Court granted him bail, he said.
Earlier addressing a religious congregation at Eidgah Sharif, the minister said Pakistan will came out of its problems and play an effective role in the Islamic world. He said Islamic world should rise above sectarianism and get united to regain its lost glory.
The salvation of Muslims lies in following the teachings and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Pir Naqibur Rehman urged Muslims to strengthen their spiritual relation with Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) to achieve success in this life and the hereafter.
The forces against Islam want to keep Muslims disunited so that they cannot challenge them in world affairs, he added.
