District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood handed over possession of a 10-kanal piece of land situated in front of Government Degree College for Women Kot Khawaja Saeed to the college administration for construction of multi purpose block. While addressing the annual prize distribution ceremony of the college here on Friday, he announced a grant of Rs one million to purchase laboratory equipment for the college.
He said by following a merit-based rationalisation policy, the City District Government (CDG) had posted 800 school teachers at those institutions which were facing shortage of teaching staff. In CDG schools, one teacher had been posted for every 26 students, a ratio, which was equal to developed countries.
After denationalisation of renowned institutions of the city, higher education had become unaffordable for the students belonging to the lower and middle classes. The CDG was striving hard for providing higher education facilities to those students.
