The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has collected Rs 166.6 billion revenue for July-October (2004-05) period, against target of Rs 150.8 billion, reflecting an increase of Rs 15.8 billion. The updated data issued on Saturday showed that the amount was Rs 3.7 billion more than the provisional figure of Rs 162.9 billion. The collection of Rs 166.6 billion reflected a healthy growth over the collection of Rs 131.6 billion in July-October 2003-04.
The monthly collection in October stood at Rs 40.9 billion, against Rs 37 billion collected in October 2003.
The CBR paid sales tax refund of Rs 19.3 billion during July-October (2004-05) whereas the refund payment in October 2004 stood at Rs 4.1 billion.
Tax-wise data showed that direct tax collection was Rs 48.4 billion in July-October 2004-05 against Rs 35.7 billion in July-October 2003 showing an increase of 35.4 percent. Direct taxes collection of Rs 48.4 billion in July-October (2004-05) was Rs 10.6 billion more than the target of Rs 37.8 billion.
Sales tax collection was Rs 70 billion in the first four months of current fiscal year as compared to Rs 59.6 billion collected in the same period. The sales tax collection at the import stage was Rs 44.5 billion against Rs 37.2 billion. GST collection from the domestic commodities was Rs 25.5 billion against Rs 22.4 billion in the same period last fiscal.
The collection of custom duty was Rs 32.5 billion July-October 2004-2005 against Rs 24.2 billion during same period. The custom duty collection of Rs 32.5 billion is Rs 3 billion more than the target of Rs 29.5 billion fixed for the first four months of current fiscal.
Similarly, the collection of central excise duty was Rs 15.5 billion against Rs 12 billion indicating an increase of Rs 3.5 billion.
The monthly break-up showed that direct taxes collection was Rs 6.7 billion in October
2004, sales tax Rs 19.7 billion, CED Rs 4.2 billion and collection of custom duty was Rs 10.18 billion.
