The final draft of "e-legislation' (Electronic Legislation) has been prepared and would be placed before the Cabinet for formal approval. This was stated by Sindh Minister for Information Technology Mustafa Kamal while addressing as chief guest at a conference on 'Cyber Security' at Usman Institute of Technology (UIT) on Saturday.
He said that the government has taken this issue very seriously and is well aware of the sensitivity of e-legislation.
He said that no IT revolution was going to take place in the country unless the 'e-laws' were in place. Such laws were the 'soul' of the 'IT body', he added.
The IT ministry and departments in the provinces had been working closely for the preparation of the e-laws, he said, and added that government's job is to act as a facilitator.
He highlighted the role of the private sector for the promotion of IT in the country. He said that government of Sindh and IT department would extend maximum possible co-operation for promotion of IT in the province.
He expressed determination to turn Karachi into 'Cyberachi'.
Mustafa said that this metropolis generates almost 70 percent of the country's revenue and with the help of automation it would generate even more revenue.
UIT Chairman Professor Dr Manzoor Ahmed called for undertaking steps for checking the cyber crimes. He expressed the desire of turning the UIT into a 'centre of excellence' in technology and micro-engineering.
He called for paying attention to check misuse of cyber technology.
Zahid Ahmed Khan, member of National Accreditation Council, presented the keynote address.
Dr Masroor Ahmad Shaikh of Sindh Board of Technical Education presented the welcome address.
Asim Zafar, a leading IT entrepreneur, and others from Sindh IT department, and IT professionals were present on the occasion.
