Entire life was paralysed in southern Punjab due to dense fog, five flights in Multan, two in Bahawalpur, one in Dera Ghazi Khan were cancelled, trains delayed for three to five hours. At least ten people have killed and another 43 injured in fog related road accidents in Punjab, while all flights between Islamabad-Multan, Karachi-Multan, Dubai-Multan, Karachi-Bahawalpur, and Lahore-Bahawalpur were cancelled due to zero visibility and trains are also running three to five hours behind schedule on Main line.
Seven mail and Express trains arrived at Multan behind schedule.
"Ten persons including four member of a family were killed and 4 sustained injuries in fog related road accidents in Bahawalnagar, Multan and Sahiwal while condition of five injured is stated to be serious," DIG Police Bahawalpur Sarfraz Hussain Sindhi told this correspondent on phone on Saturday.
Explaining details, he told that a cab collided head on with a bus No. 3724/JA in Bahawalnagar on Friday in a bid to overtake a tractor trolley, resultantly five persons including a cab driver, Habib Ahmed and four member of family named Riaz Ahmed, his wife Mst. Munnan Bibi and an infant daughter Ambreen and his brother Muhammad Iqbal died on the spot.
Three persons including a bus driver Allah Rakha , truck driver Mehboob Ahmed Naimat Ali and passenger Naimat Ali were killed and 30 injured when two buses collided with a parked truck near Yousafwala (Sahiwal) some 116 miles East of Multan.
Meanwhile a van collided with a parked tractor trolley at Peelo resultantly two women Nasreen Bibi and Sahib Jan Bibi died on the spot and 13 injured.
