More cases await the five benches of the Supreme Court here during the coming week starting from Monday, November 29. An important case in which the Court has to announce its verdict is slated for Tuesday to decide the fate of Gwadar international airport project. A temporary stay was passed against the projects by the Court last year. The owners of land had sued Civil Aviation Authority on question of compensation.
Sindh government has filed appeals against the decisions of SHC in favour of some commercial and industrial concerns on levy of professional tax. These include the Emirates, CITI, Al Falah and Soneri Banks, Rupali Polyster, a number of textile mills and numerous other manufacturers.
There is a Federal Government appeal against acceptance of a plea from Mass Power Domestic Appliances on levy of regulatory duty. This is fixed before the First Bench for the last day of the week.
THE FIVE BENCHES FOR THE WEEK WILL BE AS UNDER:
FIRST BENCH: Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary, Justice Rana Baghwandas and Justice Falak Sher.
SECOND BENCH: Justice Syed Deedar Hussain Shah, Justice Khalilur-Rahman Ramday and Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan.
THIRD BENCH: Justice Javed Iqbal and Justice Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi.
FOURTH BENCH: Justice Hamid Ali Mirza and Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokhar.
FIFTH BENCH: Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan, Justice M Javed Buttar and Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani.
LAHORE: As many as 10 division benches and 20 single benches will work at principal seat of the Lahore High Court (LHC) during the week commencing from Monday.
According to a notification, the division benches are headed by the Chief Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry, Justice Chaudhry Ijaz Ahmad, Justice Syed Jamshed Ali, Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif, Justice Zahid Hussain, Justice Mian Muhammad Najum-uz-Zaman, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Ali Nawaz Chowhan and Justice Sh. Abdul Rashid.
The single benches are comprised of Chief Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry, Justice Chaudhry Ijaz Ahmad, Justice Syed Jamshed Ali, Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif, Justice Syed Zahid Hussain, Justice Main Muhammad Najamuz Zaman, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Ali Nawaz Chowhan, Justice Tanvir Bashir Anwari, Justice Muhammad Sayeed Akhtar, Justice Muhammad Sair Ali, Justice Mian Hamid Farooq, Justice Syed Sakhi Hussain Bokhari, Justice Rustam Ali Malik, Justice Sh. Abdul Rashid, Justice Sardar Muhammad Aslam, Justice Muhammad Bilal Khan, Justice Chaudhry Iftikhar Hussain and Justice Muhammad Muzammal Khan.
