As many as three dacoits were killed and two policemen were injured in a cross firing near Sharqpur, some 35 kilometres away from here on Saturday. According to police, four dacoits were looting people on Jhanda road when a patrolling police team of Saddr Police Station headed by SHO Chaudhry Mohammad Iqbal reached there. On seeing police, the outlaws opened fire at them injuring constables Nasrullah and Aftab.
In the meantime, Additional SP Umar Farooq Bhatti, ASP City Ejaz Ahmed and SHO Sharqpur Chaudhry Saeed along with heavy contingent of police reached there and retaliated the fire. As a result of three outlaws identified as Mubarik alias Mookha, Ashfaq alias Shaku and Nawaz alias Faujan Changar Damoori died on the spot while their another accomplice managed to escape.
DPO Shahid Iqbal said that the killed outlaws were involved in a number of heinous crimes and wanted by various police stations. The police have confiscated two stolen motorcycles, a klashnikov, 8MM and 7MM rifles, a pistol and thousands of rounds from the site of encounter.
DIG Sheikhupura Range has announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the police officials who took part in the encounter.
