Russian grain prices remained mostly unchanged over the past week with third class food wheat being the only exception as prices continued to slide. Average offer prices on third class food wheat fell by around 50/100 roubles per tonne over the past week in most regions in the European part of Russia. Prices have decreased mainly due to weakening upper range prices, while bottom range prices have remained largely unchanged as sellers were not prepared to lower prices below 3,900-4,000 roubles per tonne.
Fourth class food prices remained unchanged in most regions with a slight decrease seen only in the Volga region.
The downward price trend on the food rye market has stopped and prices were remained stable during the week. The remaining uncertainty with the resumption of food rye supplies from Germany is creating potential for prices' strengthening.
Prices on feed wheat and barley were unchanged after several weeks of growth due to an active export demand in the North Caucasus.
As of November 23, farmers had threshed 4.7 million tonnes of sunseeds from 4.5 million hectares, or 93.4 percent of the total sown area.
Sunseed output this season is expected to be close to last year's record. A strong harvest, coupled with a cut in buying prices from oil mills resulted in sunseeds offer prices weakening in most regions. However, the price weakening slowed to 50/100 roubles per tonne in the past week.
