South Korea's Agricultural and Fishery Marketing Corporation has issued tenders to buy a total of 40,032 tonnes of non-glutinous short-grain brown rice on December 10, the state-run organisation said on Tuesday. Bids for the tenders should be registered by 11:00 am (0200 GMT) on that date. The tenders are to meet part of the country's 2004 import quota of 228,031 tonnes under a World Trade Organisation agreement, the AFMC said on its Web site (www.afmc.co.kr).
Customs clearance for the rice was set to be completed by February 28, 2005. Of the total, the AFMC was seeking 20,000 tonnes for arrival at the port of Kunsan, and the remainder for arrival at the ports of Intone and Kunsan.
Members of the Korea Feed Association (KFA) have issued tenders to buy a total of 8,000 tonnes of optional-origin cottonseed meal for feed production, traders said on Tuesday.
The tenders would close at 5:00 pm (0800 GMT) on Tuesday and were split into four lots, each of 2,000 tonnes, they added.
