NCGC offers post-doctorate scholarships

The scholars, who secured Ph.D. degrees during the past five years, would be offered post-doctorate scholarships, and would also be given a sum of Rs 100,000. The Higher Education Commission's (HEC) project of National Core Group for Chemistry (NCGC) had decided this in the meeting, which was held at the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi, a statement on Wednesday said.
It was attended by HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry Acting Director Professor Dr Mohammad Iqbal Chaudhry, who is also the convenor of the NCGC.
The NCGC members would deliver lectures on various aspects of chemistry at the universities, colleges and schools in the backward areas of the country. Various educational institutions would also be invited for the training programmes on chemistry. Awards and certificates would be distributed among the students who excel in the discipline of chemistry.
Dr Iqbal Chaudhry announced that under the NCGC, training programmes would be initiated for the laboratory staff of universities and colleges and pointed out that lectures' series would also be initiated in all the provinces.
Dr Iqbal Chaudhry was of the view that the Core Group at the HEJ had resolved the problems of the industries pertaining to chemistry.
Others who attended the meeting included NCGC general secretary Dr M. Khalid Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Science of International University Rawalpindi, Professor G.A. Miana.
