Speakers paid rich tributes to Mubarika Fazal worker of National Workers Party (NWP), human rights activist and sister of Business Recorder Resident Editor Saeeda Fazal, for her services for the cause of workers and women rights. A reference was held in the memory of late Mubarika, organised by NWP here on Friday. Abid Hassan Manto, President NWP presided the reference, while among others Awami National Party leader Ihsan Wyne, Moeena Imtiaz and Tahira Mazar Ali spoke on the occasion and highlighted the services rendered by the late for the cause of workers and women.
They also paid glowing tributes to the late for her contributions in the workers' movement spread over 30 years. They said that Mubarika was full of conviction with progressive thought and a committed political worker.
"Mubarika struggled against feudalism and strove for women and poor rights. She was deeply concerned with the plight of the working class and was a pro-poor politician", they said.
"The death of the late was a great loss to the party, especially when such persons were in dire need to agitate against the authoritarian rule of today. However, we would take her message forward and continue to struggle against injustice," they added.
