As a part of its on-going teacher training programme, Oxford University Press is conducting a workshop for teachers on its activity-based Urdu course, Kashif Urdu, on Saturday (December 4) from 9 a.m. to 3.30 pm at the Days Inn Hotel. The course has been specially developed for Pre-Primary and Classes 1-5, making the study of Urdu enjoyable and entertaining for young children by integrating reading, writing, drawing, and colouring.
After almost two decades of popularity among students of Pre-Primary to early Primary levels, this series has been upgraded. Books 1, 2, and 3 of the series have been published, while Book 4 and 5 are in the pipeline. Highly creative activities and exercises based on the alphabet and word build-up have been developed to maintain the child's interest. In addition, Books 3, 4, and 5 are in full colour making them more student-friendly.
The workshop will be conducted by the author of the series, Nazma Rehman, who has been teaching Urdu to primary classes for the last three decades. Her approach to teaching Urdu has been tremendously creative. Nazma Rehman also conducts workshops for teachers. At present she is the principal of Roshan Public School.-PR
