TV channels are nowadays airing an ad eulogising and promoting the so-called " benefits" of soft drinks and degrading our indigenous drinks. In the given ad, the drinkers of Lal Sharbat and tea are shown as obese and ill-mannered whereas soft drinks user is shown as a slim, dashing and endearing young man. The ad is too much misleading and factually incorrect. Tea and Sharbat are our indigenous products having proven natural contents beneficial to human health.
On the other hand, soft drinks are manufactured after long chemical processes and are increasingly under attack from medical research groups for their numerous ill impacts on public health. Secondly the ad encourages viewers to scoff at tea and Lal Sharbat consumers.
This is highly unethical on the part of the manufactures to run such an offensive ad only to " enlarge more consumer base. Multinationas have no right to heap scorns on our national products." Why are the consumers' rights protection bodies not coming out to protest?
