Norwegian Board of Accreditation has granted accreditation certificate ISO 17025 to Qarshi Research International (QRI) to make its research internationally authentic. The certificate was granted by the Director Norwegian Accreditation Dr Gro Rodland to Iqbal Ahmed Qarshi, the Chief Executive Qarshi Industries Pvt limited, in a formal ceremony here on Saturday.
The ceremony was attended by Dr Khalid Saeed Technical Director Norwegian Accredtion Dr Ronald Nielson Technical Assessor Accreditation, Ismail Gul Khattack Director Labs Pakistan National Accreditation Commission (PNAC) and number of other dignitaries.
The QRI is a part of Qarshi Industries which has been established in 1971 for research and development on medicinal plants, food and farms.
After getting its accreditation, QRI is the first ever Pakistan research institute whose research works on natural medicine, food, farms, leathers and industries would be acceptable world-wide, particularly after implementing the WTO regimes.
The history of Qarshi Industries goes back to 1968,which was established by Iqbal Qarshi, from Qarshi Dawa Khana to manufacture and Jame-e-Shrine and Johar Joshanda. In 1988 the Qarshi Industries was incorporated and modern factory was built in Hattar.
Now QRI has herbal gardens, fruit gardens, nurseries and fields in different regions of Pakistan including 5 acres in Lahore, 114 acre in Muridkay and 40 acres in Hattar, as well as lab is fully equipped with modern equipment facilities.
About 207 products have been developed out of which Jam-e-Shirin, Sharbat ialchi, Sandal, Bazor and Gen-Xing multimineral are mega brands in market.
The products have been exports to more than sixteen countries mainly to Middle East, Afghanistan, UK, Canada, and Saudi Arabia.
