In order to make transparent the recommendations for the civil awards, the government of NWFP has constituted a special committee of scholars the first introductory meeting of which was held under the chairmanship of secretary Sports and Culture Amjad Nazir at the Conference Room of Sarhad Tourism Corporation on Saturday.
The committee was given the task to initiate the names of those personalities whose performance are being acknowledge at regional, provincial and national level in various fields of human rights and public service, academic distinction and research in medicines, science, engineering, philosophy, history, literature, arts, sports and nursing.
Similarly, inventions of national importance, distinguished services rendered by Zamindars/individuals, in agriculture sector. Outstanding services rendered by public servants by developing a new system or making contribution in any other fields of importance for national development.
The meeting was attended by renowned poet Ahmad Faraz, chairman National Book Foundation Islamabad; Professor Khatir Ghaznavi, Mohsin Ihsan, Dr Zahoor Ahmad Awan, Rahimullah Yousafzai, Sharif Farooq, Akhunzada Mukhtar Ali Nayyar, Professor Ashraf Bukhari and Mumtaz Ali Shah. DG Health Services Dr Jalilur Rehman and representatives of PBC, PTV, social welfare, education, sports departments also participated in the meeting.
