The High Commissioner of India in Pakistan Shivshankar Menon and Deputy High Commissioner of India T C A Raghavan, on Saturday paid a short visit to the world famous archaeological site of Moenjodaro and the Museum displaying the antiques found from the 5000 years old ruins. The officials of Archaeology and Museums Department, Moenjodaro, briefed the Indian visitors about the historical ruins. The High Commissioner was also briefed about the efforts and plans for the conservation and preservation of the relics of the Old Civilisation.
He was further briefed about the historical importance of Moenjodaro. The Archaeology officials said it was a civilisation in the true sense.
He said that even today, after many years of excavation, Moenjodaro is a most spectacular ancient city of the world.
The Indian High Commissioner and Deputy High Commissioner were immensely impressed by the historical sites and the articles in the Museum which date some 5000 years and associate great historical importance, as they depict the ancient civilisation of Indus Valley.
The Indian visitors lauded the efforts of Pakistan government for the preservation of this historical monument.
Earlier, the Indian High Commissioner, along with Deputy High Commissioner went to Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto, some 28 km from here, and visited the Mazar of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
