Trained manpower to help ensure quality yarn: MUET

Vice Chancellor Mehran University Engineering and Technology (MUET) Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan Rajput has said that universities' interaction with industrialists could play a vital role in sustainable development of industrial sector in the country. He was speaking at the concluding session of the fifteen days training programme organised by Department of Textile Engineering, MUET to impart training in various discipline of Textile Industry concluded here on Monday.
He said he was confident that the trained manpower will help their respective mills to produce high quality of yarn and value-added textile products of international standard and would ultimately help in creating a market for their product world over.
He appreciated the role of Reiter of Switzerland in helping the university in establishing and updating its laboratories and hoped that the Reiter would come forward to provide us the rest of the machines which are still not available in the laboratories.
Professor Dr Muhammed Rafique Jhatial, Chairman, Department of Textile Engineering said that the modern machinery is essential to improve the efficiency and utilise Mill's potentials.
He informed that the quota system in the world market has been abolished by World Trade Organisation (WTO) from 2005 and free trade was introduced. Therefore, in order to remain in the business, it is very important to produce textile products at lower cost with high quality and this will be possible when we run textile processing machines at optimum efficiency and proper settings.
He said to achieve this objective trained personnel and modern machines are imperative.
He said the training was highly technical it comprises of the technical settings and maintenance of machines. In fact, he said the quality of yarn depends on the correct settings and conditions of the machines.
He said we have almost all Blow Room machines. However, these machines are for lower production up to 500 kg/hour, whereas, but for high production, machines like Uniflock, Unimix, Uniclean, Uniflex are needed.
Earlier, Reiter Switzerland technical trainer Peter Weiderkehr explained the importance and benefits of the training programme.
