The Provincial Minister for Transport, Labour, Industries and Commerce and Sindh Employees' Social Security Institution (SESSI) Governing Body Chairman Muhammad Adil Siddiqui has urged the doctors to discharge their duties with dedication and devotion. Speaking at the concluding session of a two-day seminar on "Professional Skills" organised for the doctors of SESSI on Thursday, he observed the medical profession possessed special sanctity which should not be confounded with other ordinary professions or just as a job.
Adil Siddiqui recalled his promise to build a separate medical college for the children of labourers at the time of assuming his office as minister and said he had honoured his promise as its plan finalised and foundation stone had been laid by the Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz a few days back.
It would be first medical college of its own kind wherein the children of poor and workers would be able to get higher education such as medical, he added. He assured the participating doctors his government was utilising all available resources to facilitate all the SESSI hospitals and medical centres with latest technology and equipment.
He advised to the doctors to acquire professional excellence and impart quality education/training to their juniors in the light of their experience and knowledge. He pointed out that besides resolving the problem of doctors' shortage, the issue of stuck up move-over cases of 1999 and earlier had also been solved.
The others who also spoke on the occasion were Dr Tajuddin Manji, Dr Halima Hashmi, Dr Kamal Asghar, Dr Azra Arif Ali, Dr Haseeb Qureshi, Dr Zafaryab, Dr Ashfaq Qazi and Fatima Hasan.
