Rain washed out the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy one-day cricket series decider between Australia and New Zealand without a ball bowled at the Gabba here on Friday. The inaugural series will finish all-square at one-all after New Zealand took the series opener by four wickets in Melbourne last Sunday before Australia hit back with a 17-run win in Sydney on Wednesday. The washout meant the trophy has no rightful home until Australia tours New Zealand in February for a Test and one-day series.
The drawn series leaves Australia on top of the International Cricket Council's one-day table on 136 points with New Zealand edging closer to second spot.
The Black Caps (118) trail January opponents Sri Lanka by just one point but have the luxury of playing their next two series at home.
