Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has directed Interior Ministry to issue visa to businessmen and investors of friendly countries, at airports and other entry points, who come to Pakistan on business trips, official sources told Business Recorder here on Friday. They said that Interior Ministry gave briefing to the Prime Minister about the government's visa policy. The briefing was also attended by Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Sherpao, Secretary Tariq Mahmud, and other senior officials.
The Prime Minister observed that because of political and economic stability and continuity in the economic policies of the present government, foreign investors and businessmen are keen to invest in Pakistan.
He directed the Ministry to ease visa facility for the genuine foreign businessmen and investors of those countries which have greater economic and trade relations with Pakistan but it should be consistent with the security environment.
Sources said that Pakistan missions abroad have also been instructed to issue visas to businessmen within 24 hours on their relevant papers to help enhance Pakistan's exports and attract more investment into the country.
It was also decided in the meeting to strengthen the database and automation systems at the airports and linkages with all stakeholders.
Sources said that Interior Ministry would work out the details of easing visa policy and announce it separately.
