The Higher Education Commission (HEC) would provide diagnostic and clinical research facility at Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD) of International Center for Chemical Sciences, University of Karachi. An amount of Rs 25 million has been approved by the Commission for the project, aimed at providing better training and education opportunities for young scientist in the fields of diagnostic sciences.
According to HEC here on Wednesday, the establishment of a diagnostic and clinical research facility would serve three purposes including provision of adequate number of clinical samples assisting in turn to run various ongoing research projects unhindered. It will also act as a local point where newly developed diagnostic protocols can be tested on real life situation and thirdly, the rare diagnostic tests not commonly performed in other clinical laboratories would be targeted, thus providing invaluable service to the community.
