'SITARA', meaning a star, is the name which turned out to be a good omen of the organisation which started off as a non-entity. By the grace of Almighty Allah, 'SITARA' has risen as he brightest star in the industrial galaxy of the country. In the early fifties, (Late) Haji Ghafoor Ahmad and Haji Bashir Ahmad (Acting Chairman) put into use their professional acumen and entrepreneurial skills and established a textile printing unit as Sitara Textile Printing at Faisalabad.
Inherently patriotic and cognisant of their duties towards the nation, the two brothers stood firm in adverse times, seeking new ideas and devising sound strategies to explore new industrial horizons and, in turn playing their part in the politico-economic uplift of the country and well-being of the nation.
The force of commitment transformed a mere printing unit into a group of industries which comprises of:
-- Sitara Chemical Industries Ltd.
-- Sitara Textile Industries Ltd.
-- Sitara Energy Ltd.
-- Sitara Fabrics Ltd.
-- Sitara Chemical (Textile Division)
-- Aziz Fatima Trust Hospital
-- Ghafoor Bashir Children Hospital
-- Aziz Fatima Girls Model College
-- Sitara Peroxide Ltd.
The 'Sitara' culture has a number of unique non-material traits. It is a complex of professionalism, corporate dynamism and business values and the management lays special emphasis on human resource development in order to pass on valuable experience to the coming generations. In-house and on-the-job training programmes based on the modern methods of technical training are introduced regularly to keep pace with the technological advancements.
Moreover, the statistics below speak volumes of the socio-economic contribution of the group hitherto:
-- Providing jobs to over 2000 employees
-- Manufacturing import substitutes, thus saving a substantial amount of foreign exchange
-- Earning foreign exchange of US $10 Million
-- Donating Rs 12 Million (yearly) to the workers participation fund
-- Having more than US $4 Billion assets
