On the instructions of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has initiated a reorganisation process and announced its new motto. The new motto, "Vision - Mission - Value", is aimed at motivating and spurring tax officers to perform their duties by taking all concerned facts and figures into account, with a national spirit and also having a regard for the self-esteem of taxpayers.
In this regard, a function was held, here at the Income Tax Sukkur Zone on Friday to get informed tax officers, traders, industrialist and tax lawyers about new guiding rules issued by the CBR chairman.
Commissioner Income Tax (CIT) Sukkur Zone Manzoor Hussain Qureshi, speaking on the occasion, said that to brief the taxpayers on income tax rules, and to help them filling up their tax returns, while maintaining their self-respect was the chief aim of his department.
He said that it was duty of the taxpayers to honestly pay the due tax on their income. He said that the government had extended unprecedented facilities to the taxpayers, and they ought to fully utilise these.
He further said that the members of Tax bar could play a 'bridging role, between the income tax department and the taxpayers, so as to get cleared the misconceptions and help strengthening peoples' confidence in the department.
The CIT said that his doors were always open to the taxpayers, lawyers and tax officers, and he would welcome all suggestions regarding streamlining department's performance with the government policies as well as aspirations of the people.
