Christmas was celebrated throughout the city with zeal and religious fervour and prayers were offered for the well-being of the Christian community and all other who live in Pakistan. Arrangements for prayers were made in all the churches, that were decorated with colourful bulbs, buntings and festoons to give the occasion a festive look. The people attended services at churches where priests conducted rites. In their sermon, the priests said that peace was their message to all the communities living in Pakistan and abroad.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan visited St. Patrick's Church, Saddar, and facilitated Christian community on the occasion of Christmas.
He addressed the Christian community, saying all efforts would be made to provide them security in the province.
Dr Ibad also referred to the arrangements that had been made to protect the Christians against mischief of criminals. He also assured them the protection of their rights as well.
The governor said the government believed in religious harmony and tolerance.
Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui, District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Fazl-ur-Rehman, City Police Chief Tariq Jameel and other officials accompanied the governor.
The city police administration has made arrangements to provide security at places where the Christian community will hold its Christmas gathering.
