The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) on Saturday condemned killings of four persons allegedly by the police in Kamber Ali Khan and termed it "state-terrorism". MMA leaders and National Assembly member (MNA) Abdul Sattar Afghani, Sindh Jamaat-e-Islami Naib Amir Mumtaz Hussain Sehto, Abdul Hafiz Bijarani, Shamsuddin Advocate, Ayub Ansari and Imdad Ali Qadri, who attended the funeral prayers of the deceased, demanded judicial inquiry into the incident and strict action against the police officials involved in the incident.
MNA Abdul Sattar said on the occasion that police opened fire and resorted to lathicharge on innocent protestors within minutes, but took months and years in taking action against the terrorists, dacoits and kidnappers in Sindh.
"Freedom of expression, which include holding of protest demonstrations, is constitutional and democratic right of people, but the Sindh government is following the policy of divide and rule," he said.
JI leader Mumtaz Hussain criticised the Sindh Chief Minister for his threats to the residents of Kamber, and asked him to concentrate on recovery of two abducted judges instead of ordering firing on innocent protestors.
Meanwhile, Asif Ali Zardari, spouse of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, has condemned the brutal killings of four innocent and unarmed protestors in Kamber, and demanded registration of FIR against "blood-thirsty" Sindh Chief Minister.
In a press statement, Zardari said resorting to indiscriminate firing on peaceful protestors was a new tradition set by provincial government, which wanted to frighten the downtrodden people of Sindh.
"It is horrible to note that the provincial government maintains a killing squad to shoot opponents for expressing their dissent," he said, adding that perpetuators of heinous crime against innocent people would be brought to justice soon.
He also called for judicial inquiry by a judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, into the incident, and termed it a deliberate attempt by the provincial government to frighten people of home district of Benazir Bhutto.
