The government has decided to hold weeklong celebrations of Gandhara civilisations from March 26 to April 2, next year under the auspicious of Ministry of Tourism. Talking to APP, Federal Minister for Tourism Dr Ghazi Gulab Jamal informed Ministry of Tourism would call convention of the experts on Gandhara civilisation in Islamabad for registering their recommendations in the final plan in connections with the weeklong celebrations.
He informed foreign delegates from Buddhist countries including Thailand, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Japan and several others would attend the celebrations.
The Minister said the caravan of tourists would be travelling from Islamabad to district Swat, the hub of Gandhara civilisations. He added the caravan would later drive to Malakand, Takht Bhai, Mardan, Charssada and Taxila.
He said district Charssada and Swat remained the headquarters of Gandhara civilisations and several archaeologists had mentioned those districts in their biographies.
The Minister hoped that would not only promote tourism in the country but also introduce ancient art, civilisations and cultural aspects of Pakistan in the world.
