Reference the TV review published in your Weekend issue of 18th December about the interview of General Yahya Khan. There is nothing mysterious about it. The press conference for foreign correspondents was held at the Government House, Karachi, organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting under the personal supervision of then Secretary of the ministry, Roedad Khan. The press conference was recorded by PTV and was telecast on its national hook-up. I remember watching it at the time.
I also remember a foreign correspondent, who was blind, wearing dark glasses, asked some vociferous questions. General Yahya said to him, "I want you to go to East Pakistan and see yourself what is happening there. We will make all the arrangements for your visit so that you can see what is on the ground".
Clearly, General Yahya did not know the man was blind otherwise he would not have used word, See.
