Terming the trade bodies attached with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) as bogus is highly condemnable. Former LCCI President Mian Anjum Nisar and the Piaf-Founders Alliance leader Mohammad Ali Mian expressed these views in a joint statement issued here on Monday. They said if the trade bodies were bogus why did Businessman Forum not cancel the membership in its own tenure.
They said the election of FPCCI office-bearers was a democratic right of all the members of the Federation and that right could not be usurped.
They said Businessman Panel had always struggled for giving a business-friendly atmosphere to the trading community and acted as a bridge between private sector and the government.
Mian Anjum Nisar said a strong candidate Munawar Khan's inclusion in the panel had further strengthened the position of Businessman Panel. They said popularity of the Businessman Panel had unnerved its opponents.
The Alliance leaders said in democratic regimes, those who did not come up to the expectations of the voters were bound to be out of the field. They urged the Businessman Forum to show sportsman spirit and keep the democratic traditions by submitting to the voters verdict so the whole business community should not feel disrespect.
