In pursuance of directives of the present government, the Pakistan railways have decided to establish rail links with Afghanistan. Official sources told APP Pakistan railways have already linked with Iran at International level and added, immediately after coming into power, the present government explored routes to a number of Central Asian states and the Northern parts of the country that mountain-region of Afghanistan.
In that regard, feasibility report prepared in May this year had been submitted to the relevant authorities, the sources added.
In the first phase, the sources confirmed Pakistani engineers that would take more than a year would link Chaman with Spin Boldak in Afghanistan.
Later, the link would be further expanded to Kandhar and later on Khushka, the border point of Turkmenistan which would take nearly five years involving international funding, the sources concluded.
