Pakistan Army's Remount, Veterinary and Farms Corps (RVFC), and the University of Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the uplift of the livestock sector. The Director General, RVFC, General Headquarters, Rawalpindi, Major General Muhammad Tahir, and the UVAS vice-chancellor, Professor Dr Manzoor Ahmad, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations here on Monday.
Under the MoU, the Pakistan Army and the UVAS will collaborate in reproductive health, breeding management (bull selection and production) and culling of uneconomical animals and progeny testing.
Both the organisations would also collaborate in animal health management (lab based disease diagnosis, therapeutics and immunoprophylaxis) and nutritional management (feed, and fodder production, preservation) and formulation of balanced rations.
Under the MoU, measures, including farm management, enhancing production, inter-organisation training visits of staff and university students, training programmes of in-research and extension projects in areas of applied importance will also be taken.
Both the organisations also agreed to facilitate joint interactions and efforts between subject specialists of science and technology and professionals, to resolve the existing problems affecting nation-wide animal productivity.
