Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Board (PHDEB) will establish an export center for the fruit and vegetable exporters of Lahore to expedite their business and sort out their problems. A meeting of leading fruit and vegetable exporters of Lahore region was held in this regard with PHDEB Board of Directors' member Saadat Ejaz Qureshi in the chair, according to a press release issued here on Tuesday.
PHDEB Chief executive Officer Shamoon Sadiq briefly described the objective and future planning for export and marketing of fruits and vegetables, and the role of PHDEB in the pre-harvest, post-harvest, marketing, regulatory/policy, and other related issues.
Participants explained the constraints faced by them in the export of these perishable items, and urged the need to establish an export center in Lahore to overcome the quarantine and logistic issues in an amicable way.
They also asked the PHDEB to publish WTO awareness in Urdu language through Hortimag to educate the agri-business community and the general masses.
Participants included Mairaj Din and Mohammad Ramzan of Balochistan Fruit Company, Mian Riaz Ahmad of World Wider Services, Mohammad Tahir of M/s MashaAllah, Mian Qasim of Max Exporters, Malik Mohammad Amin of SAANCO, Sohail Aslam of Mohammad Ramzan and Company, Ali Raza of Roshan Enterprises and Mian Nofal Saleem of Al-Nusrat Exports.
