Pakistan is showing flexibility for resolution of Indian occupied Kashmir issue while rigid stance of Indian leadership has been exposed to world community. This was stated by leader of opposition in the AJK Legislative Assembly, Barrister Sultan Mahmood and member, European parliament, Sajjad Haider Karim at a joint press conference here on Tuesday.
Sultan Mahmood said the leadership in Pakistan has shown flexibility on request of international community on issue of Indian occupied Kashmir and taken several measures to normalise its relations with India.
But, Indian leadership is still following its rigid policy on the longstanding issue, he added.
India should immediately withdraw its occupation troops from cities as a goodwill gesture, he added.
To a question, he said the United Nations resolutions are basis for a just resolution of Indian occupied Kashmir issue while the entire world is signatory to these resolutions.
Pakistan and India, he said, are the two main parties to the Indian occupied Kashmir dispute and process of dialogue between the two countries must continue.
"But the important and basic party to the dispute are Kashmiri people and all efforts against their wishes will go waste", he added.
He said more than 80,000 men, women and children have been martyred during the last 10 years by Indian troops deployed in the occupied valley.
Kashmiris would continue their struggle until they are granted the right to self-determination in accordance with the UN resolutions, he added.
Member European parliament, Sajjad Haider Karim said the Pakistani leadership has successfully highlighted Indian occupied Kashmir issue at the international fora.
Sajjad, the first and only Pakistani origin member of European Parliament also lauded the Kashmiri leadership from the both sides of Kashmir for their untiring efforts for the resolution of Indian occupied Kashmir issue.
Responding to a question, he said the majority of the Kashmiri living in the European countries want peaceful resolution of this issue.
The UN Resolutions are the best option for the just and lasting settlement of the longstanding issue, he said.
