The Election Commission of Pakistan has extended the last date for enrolment in the electoral rolls for Local Government Elections to January 13, 2005. Chief Election Commissioner former Chief Justice Irshad Hasan Khan announced on Tuesday. Earlier, last date for enrolment in the electoral rolls for Local Government Elections was December 31, 2004.
The decision has been taken to facilitate the people, who may have attained age of 18 years on or before January 1, 2005 and also those left out voters, who could not get themselves enrolled as voters due to any reason.
The prescribed forms for addition or deletion and correction of existing entries in the electoral rolls are available free of cost throughout the country in the offices of Registration Officers/Assistant Election Commissioners, Assistant Registration Officers and at display centres. Application for inclusion of name should be accompanied by a photocopy of the Computerised National Identity Card or old National Identity Card or a Passport, as the case may be.
The Chief Election Commissioner has also asked the eligible voters to file their claims for enrolment as voters in the electoral rolls to be used in the forthcoming Local Government Elections with the Registration Officers or Assistant Registration Officers by January 13, 2005.
The offices of the Registration Officers/Assistant Election Commissioners are located near the District Courts across the country.
